This Privacy & Cookie Policy explains how Tidal House (“Tidal House,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information when you visit thetidalhouse.com, contact us, join our mailing list, make or manage a reservation, or otherwise interact with us.

1. Who We Are

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Contact and inquiry information, such as your name, email address, phone number, and message.
• Reservation and stay information, such as dates, guest count, selected chalet, preferences, reservation status, and communications about your stay.
• Payment and transaction information. Our booking and payment providers process payment-card details. We may receive transaction records, payment status, billing details, and limited payment information, but we do not intentionally collect full payment-card numbers through this website.
• Mailing-list information, such as your email address, subscription status, and consent record.
• Device and usage information, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, approximate location, and interactions with the site.
• Communications, including email, telephone, SMS, and customer-service records.

We receive information directly from you, automatically from your browser or device, and from reservation channels and service providers such as Hostfully, Airbnb, and Vrbo.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

• provide availability, pricing, reservations, payments, check-in information, and guest services;
• respond to inquiries and communicate about reservations;
• operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve our website and services;
• send marketing email only where permitted, and honor unsubscribe requests;
• prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
• maintain business, tax, accounting, and legal records; and
• comply with law and protect our rights, guests, property, and others.

4. Legal Bases for European Visitors

Where European data-protection law applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract or steps requested before entering a contract; compliance with legal obligations; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving our business; and consent, including consent for optional analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

5. How We Share Information

We may share information with:

• Booking and payment providers, including Hostfully and the reservation channel you choose;
• Website, security, and analytics providers, including Cloudflare and Google Analytics;
• Communications and business-service providers, including email, mailing-list, telephone/SMS, automation, customer-management, accounting, and professional advisers;
• Authorities and other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, prevent harm or fraud, or protect legal rights; and
• A successor or transaction participant in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale, or transfer of all or part of our business.

Service providers may use information only as permitted by their agreements with us and their own applicable obligations. Third-party reservation channels separately control information they collect under their own privacy notices.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not use personal information collected through this site for cross-context behavioral advertising.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other sharing categories described above exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; we do not sell, rent, or share that information with third parties. We may provide mobile information and messaging consent data to service providers acting on our behalf solely to deliver and support our text messages, or disclose it when required by law.

6. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here. Reservation, payment-status, tax, and accounting records are retained for the period required by applicable law and ordinary business needs. Inquiry and customer-service records are retained while useful for responding and maintaining an appropriate business record. Mailing-list information is retained until you unsubscribe or we no longer need it, with limited suppression records kept to honor opt-outs. Usage data is retained according to our analytics settings and provider controls.

We may retain information longer when required for legal claims, security, fraud prevention, or another lawful obligation. When information is no longer needed, we delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The site uses local storage, cookies, and similar technologies for the following purposes:

• Necessary and functional technologies support security, forms, booking features, and site operation. Cloudflare Turnstile may process device and network signals to protect forms from abuse. The Hostfully booking experience may use functional technologies when live availability or checkout is requested.
• Privacy-choice storage records whether a visitor subject to European consent requirements accepted or rejected optional analytics. This preference is stored in the browser as tidal-privacy-choice-v1 until it is cleared.
• Optional analytics uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate site use. Google Analytics commonly sets _ga and _ga_<container-id> first-party cookies, generally for up to two years depending on browser and configuration.

For visitors detected in the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, optional Google Analytics does not load unless the visitor accepts it. Those visitors can change their choice through the Cookie settings link in the footer. Other visitors can block or delete cookies through their browser settings. Blocking functional technologies may affect booking or form features.

Our region check uses Cloudflare’s country-level request metadata. We do not use that check to identify your precise location.

8. International Data Transfers

We and our service providers are based in the United States and other countries. As a result, personal information may be processed outside the country where you live. Where required, transfers are supported by recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions, contractual protections, or another lawful transfer mechanism. Provider privacy notices describe their transfer practices in more detail.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to appeal a decision about a privacy request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

To make a request, email [email protected] with enough information for us to understand and verify it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization and identity verification.

10. Marketing, Email, and SMS Choices

You can unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in the message or by contacting us.

If you separately consent to receive text messages from Tidal House, we may send reservation confirmations, check-in information, guest-service replies, safety or stay-related updates, and any other message category described when you opt in. Marketing texts are sent only with the separate consent required for that purpose. Consent to receive texts is voluntary, is not a condition of making a purchase or reservation, applies only to the disclosed messaging program, and cannot be transferred by another party. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to opt out of Tidal House text messages. We may send one final message confirming your opt-out, after which we will not send additional texts unless you opt in again. 11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children’s Privacy

Our website and lodging services are intended for adults arranging travel and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through this website. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us.

13. Third-Party Sites and Booking Terms

Links to Hostfully and other third-party services take you to services they operate. Their privacy practices and terms apply to information collected there. Hostfully presents the current price, cancellation policy, house rules, and rental terms during the secure booking flow before a reservation is completed. Please review those terms carefully.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our practices, providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in another appropriate way.
